DAFL Season 2017/18 News

Alshaya Enterprises Allstars, League 2 Champions. Plus cup finals week and more.
Alshaya Enterprises Allstars this week secured the League 2 title, with an impressive season record that saw only a single defeat. Behind them Nomads and McGettigans Irish DWTC finish 2nd and 3rd respectively.
In the Premiership, McGettigan’s Irish B secure third place on goal difference ahead of Pex Plumbex Allstars (B) who finish 4th in their first season in the premiership.
In league 3, third place was sorted out in a head to head between Brunswick Sports Club and Societe, with Brunswick prevailing. The two then met again in the cup, with it taking 30 odd penalties to split the two teams – Brunswick winning again to progress.
All of the cup competitions reach the final stage this week, with all 4 finals taking place on Wednesday 24th May at The Sevens from 8pm onwards. All welcome to come along, to see the end of another DAFL season.

McGettigan's Irish A, Premiership Champions DAFL 2016/17
In a tumultuous divisional season that has had more incidents in the last 6 months than a bad soap opera, congratulations to McGettigan's Irish A on retaining the Premiership title as Champions. Cara Allstars finish the season as runners-up.
All to play for still in League 2, with Nomads holding the top spot, but Alshaya Enterprises Allstars just 4 points behind and 4 games in hand are looking ominous. Third place in League 2 is still open to possibilities with Notorious DXB and Safa B theoretically able to catch up with McGettigans Irish DWTC, who currently hold third.

In a division that went down to the very last game, Slugs & Goats kept their calm and their form to defeat the recently resurgent Team Clark 5-3, to take the DAFL League 1 title ahead of International Falcons, who kept immense pressure all the way to the very last, beating MBC 6-0 in their final game at The Sevens. Rodeo Drive - League 3 Champions -
Dubai Amateur Football League 2016/17
Rodeo Drive continued their impressive form that has been shown throughout their season with a 4-0 win over McGettigans Irish Madinat
to secure the League 3 title in their first season.
We congratulate them and look forward to seeing them in League 2 next season.
If you are interested in playing for a team in the Dubai Amateur Football League, please send us a message via the Contact page, with details of your age, level of ability, and previous playing experience.
Note that the league is only for social amateur players whom are currently resident in the UAE.
Enquiries from professional players and players overseas will be ignored. We do not have contacts at professional clubs, we cannot assist anybody that is looking for a professional club and we do not allow professional players or professional trialists to play in the Dubai Amateur Football League under any circumstances.
If you are a professional player and wish to play football in the UAE, you should contact the UAE Football Association at www.uaefa.ae
While the current season is reaching it's climax, with crucial games deciding both the leagues and cups, for some time we have already been looking ahead to next season. I (Dean) will be in Dubai full-time again from September 2017, so will be spending a lot of time at league games next season looking at how we can make continual improvements to the league.
Sponsorship & Club Benefits
The league is securing a number of sponsorships for the 2017/18 season, which will in turn help to reduce overall costs for clubs as well as providing extra benefits for all that participate in the league. Lots more details to come over the summer. The new website (see below) will also have clubs sponsors banners appearing, at no cost - an extra benefit for your sponsors.
The DAFL website will receive another total overhaul in the summer and at last bring us into the new 17/18 season at the point where we have wanted to be for the last few seasons - with club information, accessible player stats with images and a better overall experience for website visitors. This will also provide a much simpler method of player registration (players will be able to do it themselves). The website will further integrate with social media ensuring that the league maintains a suitable profile (although this will undoubtedly mean 10000 more overseas professional players messaging every week).
The league is setting up an internal education system for referees, providing the necessary support for the goal of improving the overall consistency and quality required for refereeing across all divisions of the DAFL.
The league always has a lot of enquiries from new players and teams. In order to help bring new players on board and to help teams which want to join, but are not strong enough for league 3, we are looking at the feasibility for the addition of a social league structure for season 17/18. More details on this by the end of May.
We will be pushing up the size of the Vets League with 2 extra teams, which will initially be led by myself and George (anything to stop him from refereeing). Hopefully we can get close to our goal of 10 vets teams next season (we've already had a couple of enquiries from potential new vets teams, so fingers crossed).
